The recent emergence of the Corona virus (COV-19) is of great concern to everyone. We have taken all precautions to help you feel safe in our office.
Ever wonder why you have onsets of pain and always tired even though you get enough sleep and you haven't injured yourself. It may be due to the fact that your body is working overtime to get you through the day. Prolonged or repetitive activities are known to be the root cause of muscular pain and dysfunction. Strained or weakened muscles don't work probably causing your body to call on other surrounding muscles to compensate for the loss. This overload to the compensating muscles tissues over time may lead to loss of motion, weakness and pain. Lack of physical activity creates a kinetic chain that is less prepared to adapt and recover from activity leading to muscular dysfunction and increased injury rates. This supports the concept that over time we develop over-reactive and under-reactive muscles leading to decreased mobility and poor movement quality.
Overtime muscular dysfunction can be seen in individuals that display a forward projected head, rolled shoulders and rounded upper back. In the lower extremities you may see hip tilted forward or back with knees rolling in or ankles rolling out.
From the 1980's to the present, the wealth of technology and automation in the United States has taken a toll on public health. Work and home environments are overwhelmed with computers, mobile devices and other technology that are more prevalent today than ever before. With the rise of technology, people are likely to be less active and spend less times engaged in physical activity outside of their occupation. This can lead to muscular dysfunction.
A comprehensive musculoskeletal evaluation with a 5 key kinetic checkpoint inspection can determine if muscular dysfunction is present. Developing a plan of action, and implementing an integrated strategy through corrective exercises and skilled medical massage has proven to significantly improve overall health.
Skilled therapeutic medical massage application releases tight, sore muscles which can cause ischemia and further relieves nerve compression or entrapment. It deactivates myofascial trigger points, decreases pain and inflammation. Its alleviates stress, improves circulation, increases flexibility, range of motion, calms the nervous system and aides in digestion.
Medical massage is outcome-based massage, primarily the application of a specific treatment targeted to the specific problem the patient presents with a diagnosis and are administered after a thorough assessment/evaluation by the medical massage therapist with specific outcomes being the basis for treatment
A skilled massage corporates a variety of advanced modalities that enhance the body's natural restorative function.
NMT (Neuromuscular Therapy) is a specialized form of manual deep tissue massage that calms the central nervous system via muscles that have sustained soft tissue injury. It is considered to be a very effective non-surgical manual therapy for chronic pain, which may manifest as back and neck pain as well as shoulder, elbow or forearm pain.
Craniosacral therapy uses gentle manipulation of your head, neck, and the bottom of your spine to treat ailments.
Deep Tissue Massage reaches deeper layers of muscles. It is used to break down knots and relieve pressure points throughout the body. This massage is beneficial for athletes and those who sit for long periods of time.
The goal of Swedish Massage is to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow to your heart. Swedish Massage is extremely therapeutic as it decreases muscle toxins, increases oxygen levels in the blood, and improves flexibility in the body.
Hot Stone Massage is often paired with Swedish Massage. Stones are heated and used with oils to sooth, warm, and massage your muscles. This allows your body to relax and release tension and stress.
Fitness trainer who leads, instructs, and motivates individuals in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercise (exercises for the heart and blood system), strength training and stretching.
A technique that leverages an understanding of anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanics to address and fix movement compensations and imbalances to improve the overall quality of movement during workouts and in everyday life.
Corrective Exercise is used to help assess and determine the root cause of imbalances and faulty movement patterns that lead to issues with posture, balance and total body coordination.
